Although the Nano had dominated the Tata stand at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the company had another trump card up its sleeve, the new Indica. Months before the Nano hits showrooms, the company has launched this new version of the popular hatch and calls it the Indica Vista.
The Vista is longer, taller and wider than the current genera tion Indica, and therefore expect still more space inside. External changes include petal shaped headlamps with indica tors incorporated within and an almost clamp like new bonnet. At the rear, the Vista gets new tail lamps and a redesigned hatch Clearly readable instrument console with more pronounced lines. The new rear bumper also houses reflectors now.
Inside though, it feels like a completely different car! The new two tone dash has a centrally mounted instrument console. It also gets a tilt adjustable steering and height adjustable seats. The top of the line variants also get 2-way lumbar support.
Three variants include the Sa-fire with a 1.2-litre petrol engine churning out 65bhp and a 1.4-litre TDI with 71 bhp. The talk of the town would be the Fiat derived 1.3 common rail motor renamed Quadrajet. With 75bhp it is sure to be the hot favorite.
Three variants offered are the Terra (base spec), Aqua and Aura being the top of lines. Pricing has been kept competitive as Tata would try to topple the Multijet ted Swift from the throne.
