Hyundai i20 Specifications Review Launch Previews India Europe

hyundai i20The Korean Car maker giant had hardly six spanking all new models for display and every each of them is production oriented and none of them more imp. To India as the i20 supermini.

The fact is that Hyundai is dovetailing all its best efforts in the small car hatchback class cars with better European built, specifications and driving dynamics to go with the best looks and packaging is really a superb achievement in this little package which will replace Getz Supermini in Europe. But in india, both the cars will reside and both will fit into the B-Segment in Indian Car Market.
Hyundai i20 is much prettier than the getz and it is true that it is much more cuddly than the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Hyundai i20 is a large hatchback and it is being built from the groundup using the all new best platform that allowed Hyundai to move into the Europian’s spermini segment.
Hyundai i20 has excellent wheelbase of 2525 mm which really give a good quality to Hyundai i20 and surely gives the car a generous passenger cabin, also boosted with its style and packaging of course.

Hyundai’s European technical centre at Russelsheim, pioneered their engineering to deliver a Euro Specific dynamics and Hyundai i20 is well tuned for its handling abilities and super ride quality which is European cars are best at.

Hyundai i20’s new structure is highly rigid powered by MacPherson strut suspension up front and a torsion beam in the rear, also the rack and pinion power assisted steering to deliver much better and refined driving dynamics and handling.

Hyundai i20 will launch in Europe by next year with the total of seven different engine options in which three of them will be pertrol and rest of them will be Diesels. Giving big engines in such a small car with superb VFM package will surely gives a tough competition to the other cars in its class.

In India Hyundai i20 will come with a 1.4-litre DOHC 16-valve engine delivering 100PS at 5500rpm and a healthy 137Nm of torque at 4200rpm.

All Aluminium Alloy Hyundai i10 Kappa 1248CC engine block can come under Hyundai i20’s hood as Hyundai i10 kappa is very well tuned for the bumper to bumper traffic in india.

No less than four engines are offered, two of these being 1396cc units with 75PS and 220Nm as the entry level version while a 90PS and 220Nm high power unit is the next step up. These two dohc 16-valve fours are joined by two 1582cc engines having the same dohc and 16-valve top end architecture but deliver 115PS and 260Nm of torque for the sensibly priced version while the top end offering delivers 128PS and 260Nm of torque.

Factor in a zero to 100km/h acceleration time of 10.7 seconds and a 190km/h top speed and you can see how potent such an i20 could be in Europe, tormenting Fiats, Peugeots, Citroens and even some Seats and Volkswagens! All engines come mated to five-speed manual transmissions though there are also fourspeed automatics as options for the petrol engined models but the top end 1.6 is mated to a sixspeed manual.

Where Hyundai definitely will score and score big is in its generous equipment levels compared to the Euro dandies. The i20 will come equipped with six airbags as OE, active headrests, front seat pretensioners, the latest generation ABS plus ESC and EBD! And if that is not all, Hyundai has also fitted an advanced tyre pressure monitoring system into the package.
