Mahindra and Mahindra had showcased two new versions of the Scorpio at the ninth Auto Expo held earlier this year in Delhi – one with an automatic transmission and the other a Hybrid variant.
At that time, the company had claimed that these two vehicles were for the American market. Since cars with automatic transmissions are popular in the US, it was quite obvious that the Scorpio with the auto ‘box will be a good launch for the American market. Recently, a black Scorpio was caught testing around Pune. There were no badges on it. The scoop on the bonnet made it clear that it was the mHawk version of the Scorpio. Peeping inside the car, it was revealed that 2.2-litre engine of the mHawk was mated to the auto transmission. Since the car is being tested in India, we can definitely expect it to hit the domestic market in the near future. The automatic gear variant shown at the Auto Expo also was the mHawk variant. Like the regular mHawk, we can expect this car to come with the goodies like ABS and cruise control.
